Engineering Team

Full Time Position:  Software Engineer

Location: Atlanta, GA

Reports To: VP of Engineering

Overview:  You will help build and shape our initial product — building cutting edge features like analytics, gamification, learning algorithms, and working with NoSQL data storage.

We are looking for candidates that are comfortable working at any level in the stack: front-end, back-end, plumbing, or database.  A jack of all technical trades who is interested in learning all of the different aspects of start-up technology company.

Responsibilities

  • Develop software for the GPA web application.
  • Work with Learning Specialists, Business Analysts, and Content Developers to design the product.
  • Communicate clearly and effectively on the issues and features as they pertain to the GPA app.
  • Respect and abide by the culture of GPA

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or other Bachelor of Science
  • 1 to 3 Years experience doing Software Development
  • Experience developing applications with Groovy or Java, Javascript, jQuery, and a Javascript Framework.
  • Track record of delivering web based software products
  • Strong analytical and design skills
  • Detail and task oriented
  • Comfortable with Agile Software Development Practices
  • Strong communication skills
  • Must be a cultural fit with the Great Parents Academy team

Preferred

  • Game Development Experience
  • Experience with Grails, Groovy, AngularJS, MongoDB, or LESS.
  • Experience with EC2 and AWS.
  • Linux Administration

Full Time Position: Javascript Developer

Location: Atlanta, GA

Reports To: VP of Engineering

Overview:  The Javascript Developer will be responsible for building, debugging, documenting, training, and maintaining the Content Engine part of the GPA app.  Content Engine is used to show GPA education content to children and other users in the system.  This person will work with the Platform Engineers, Media Specialists, Learning Specialists, and Content Developers.

Responsibilities

  • Develop software for the Content Engine
  • Product documentation and examples for Content Developers on how to use Content Engine to build content.
  • Assist with training Content Developers on the tools and process to create the content in GPA
  • Work closely with the Content Development team to understand how to build education content for GPA
  • Work closely with the Engineering to design, and integrate Content Engine into GPA app
  • Communicate clearly and effectively on the issues and features in the Content Engine
  • Respect and abide by the culture of GPA

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or other Bachelor of Science
  • One to five years of software development
  • Knowledgeable and worked with XML, JSON, Javascript, jQuery, Git, Jira, CSS
  • Track record of delivering web based software products
  • Strong analytical and design skills
  • Detail and task oriented

Contract or Intern/Coop Position:  Content Developer

Location: Atlanta, GA

Reports To: Content Manager

Overview:  The Content Developer will implement the educational designs that the Learning Specialists create. This will take the form of XML template usage, video and audio production, and image management.  A successful Content Developer will actively partner with Learning Specialists (teachers) to produce high quality educational content as part of the technology team.

Required Attributes

  • Bachelors degree in information systems, computational media, computer science or related area
  • Strong communication skills
  • Experience with digital media
  • Experience with CS6 suite
  • Experience working with technology teams

Preferred Attributes

  • Experience in the education field
  • Experience and knowledge of SVG

Responsibilities

  • Analyze designed educational content
  • Identify the appropriate XML templates for the content
  • Implement the content with XML code
  • Assist in the identification of appropriate media formats for different academic content
  • Produce educational videos with audio
  • Assist the Technology Team with a meta-tagging system
  • Communicate clearly and effectively
  • Must be a cultural fit with the Great Parents Academy team
